Men vs Women

Men vs. women when sick.

So dad has that nasty cold everyone has been getting. I had it about a month ago and I know how yucky it is. Now when I was sick, I went to work everyday, I took myself to the store to buy medicine, I kept the house in a sembelence of order, fixed dinner, and kept the laundry up. This is day 2 dad has been sick, he didn't go to work today, he hasn't showered, he acted like he was dying when I made him decide what kind of soup he wanted for dinner. I asked him what medicine he had taken, I found out he hadn't taken any yet, sooo I forced some pills down him and then he asked me to go to the drugstore and buy some more. It makes me wonder how men survive without a woman in the house.

Catching up

The holidays were wonderful, I think I had the best christmas I've had in a very long time. The weekend before we went up to Paul's parents house, got to visit a little bit with his sister and BIL, had a nice dinner with his parents. Later in the week, he came down to my house for dinner with my dad and his girlfriend. This was the first time I had met the girlfriend, she seems nice enough and I am happy for dad, cause he seems happy but... well it's his life not mine. Saturday, Paul and I hung out for a few hours with his friends and their kids, watching kiddies unwrap presents is hilarious. We did Christmas on Christmas eve, got up and opened presents in our pjs :) Paul was sooo sweet and had remembered me talking about christmas stockings my mom used to do and had made one up for me. He and I made sugar cookies (from scratch, those roll and bake things at the grocery are not cookies) and decorated them. Christmas Day we went our separate ways, Dad and I went up to John's house, I had a great time there. I really don't like living so far away from my brother. Got to slack on Tuesday, didn't have to work, visit anyone, go anywhere, was great. And Wednesday back to the office. Overall it was a good few weeks, I think I've just about mastered my grandmother's fudge recipe (thanks alot grandma for leaving out some key ingredients). Hope you had a great christmas too!

My present

I'm still a little shocked, this is what Paul got me for Christmas. I don't think I've ever been given such a thoughtful gift. It's so pretty and perfect, just like him.

Christmas Tree

It's Christmas time!!!
Here's my tree this year. Small but pretty. I did manage to put a few of my snowmen out and some other glass christmas decorations, so far none of the animals have broken anything. There is a string of lights in the window just enough to put us in the mood.

Not quitting my day job

Well my attempt at my truffles was..........poor, i'm not sure they are supposed to be that big and I'm pretty sure they aren't supposed to be lumpy.

Work related road trip

My office sent me to Florida this week to pick up our ERV (emergency response vehicle) It was a long 3 days, but we arrived home safely yesterday. Tooks up about 17 hours to drive back. Drove through FL, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia and back to good old Ohio. I must say, I still love my hills and mountains of appalachia!

This is the view from my hotel in Orlando.

The volunteer and I in the back of our brand new ERV!
